Indoor Workout Routines

The last thing most people want to do when it feels like -11º outside is workout.

Winter has such a way of coaxing you into your blankets, tempting you with warmth and relaxation. Don't feel bad. This isn't your "fault." Winter is a period of hibernation. Our primitive instincts take us back to the caveman days when we would eat as much as we could all year round so that when winter came we could avoid famine. This period of cleansing is a natural state for us. We naturally take time for introspection and reflection on our resolutions for the upcoming seasons.

Winter is our best oppurtunity for growth. This is when you plant the seeds that will bring fruitful bounties to you in the spring and summer. Don't neglect yourself. Your body is dying to heal itself -- if only we would learn to get out of the way.

Our bodies are incredible machines, chugging along and coming through for us regardless of how we treat it, how we feed it, and how we neglect it.

The human body was designed for movement. And as tempting as it is to engorge on food and hibernate, it is equally as important to keep our bodies in shape. For those of you that still find that strength inside of you to run outside in the snow, congratulations --you are epochs ahead of most of us. Don't stop!

On those days, however, when you know you should really do something, but you're afraid to come out of your little cave and come to yoga, or dance, or any other fitness classes LiveWell offers, don't fret.

Use these simple and easy workouts to keep you in tune with your body and ready for the days ahead.

Do any of you workout at home? What are some of your favorite exercises?

A good routine would be to complete 15-30 minutes of excercise before you jump in the shower each day. That way you can keep your body healthy and your organs moving before you do anything else. You'll be amazed at what difference it makes in all other bodily functions!!

Exercise will keep you energized, happy, and focused. So what are you waiting for? Mooooooooove!!
